The
Institute
Since its founding in 1990, the California Institute of Music has
become the center of pre-college professional education in music in
Southern California and ranks among the best schools of music in the
nation. Situated in the heart of the vital musical life of San Diego,
the California Institute of Music brings together a distinguished
faculty and gifted students from around Southern California. It is
in this wonderfully diverse cultural milieu that students are offered
instruction in virtually all professional and scholarly branches of
music. Advanced chamber ensembles are at the core of our curriculum.
Numerous formal and informal concerts and recitals are presented on
and off campus each year and the school regularly presents eminent
visiting artists and scholars who appear in master classes, workshops,
lectures, seminars and in performance.
